Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Each year, truck accidents take the lives of hundreds of people in the state of Texas. Unfortunately, many of these acronyms are a result of negligence. When a large truck is involved in a fatal accident, there are many parties who may be held liable. The truck driver, the trucking company, the owner of the truck, and the manufacturer of the truck or its parts may all be held responsible.

In Texas, as in most states, the truck driver is typically the party who is held most responsible for a fatal accident. This is because the driver is operating the vehicle and has a duty to operate it safely. If the driver was speeding, impaired, or recklessly driving, he or she would likely be found liable for any resulting accidents or fatalities.

The trucking company may also be held liable if it was negligent in hiring or supervising the driver, if the truck was not properly maintained, or if it failed to abide by federal and state regulations.

The owner of the truck may be held liable if he or she knew or should have known about any safety issues with the vehicle and failed to take action. Finally, the manufacturer of the truck or its parts may be held liable if there was a defect in the design or manufacture of the vehicle that made it unsafe.
