Truck Accidents in Texas

Truck crashes take place frequently here in Texas. Unfortunately, thousands of people are harmed every year as a result of accidents involving big rigs and other commercial vehicles. These accidents are often devastating due to the size and weight of these vehicles. When compared to passenger vehicles, semi-trucks are more like they could to cause death and significant damage to anything they come in contact with.

Although any type of truck accident can cause severe injuries or damage, accidents involving rollovers tend to be more severe. There are many factors that can contribute to a rollover accident involving a truck. Some of the most common causes include:

  • Speeding: Excessive speed is one of the most common factors in all types of accidents, and this is especially true for rollover accidents. When a truck is going too fast for road conditions, it becomes much more difficult to control and may easily lose traction, causing it to overturn.
  • Fatigue: Truck drivers often work long hours and deal with demanding schedules. This can lead to fatigue, which can make it difficult to concentrate and make good decisions while driving. Fatigue can also cause drowsy driving, which increases the risk of an accident.
  • Impaired driving: Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is always dangerous and significantly increases the likelihood of an accident. Truck drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol are especially likely to cause an accident because of their large vehicles and the potential for serious injuries or fatalities.
  • Distractions: Distracted driving is another major factor in all types of accidents, including rollover accidents. Truck drivers may be distracted by cell phones, GPS devices, other passengers in the cab, or anything else that takes their attention away from the road. Even a momentary distraction can lead to an accident.
