Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Truck accidents are the cause of hundreds of deaths each year in the state of Texas. Unfortunately, we see countless people die as a result of drivers who are speeding, impaired, or distracted. Although many people think that filing a wrongful death claim against the driver is the only option that they have after losing a loved one in a fatal truck accident, there may be several parties who are liable. Seeking the assistance of a wrongful death lawyer in Tom Green County can help you identify who is at fault for the death of your loved one.

There are many people and entities who could potentially be held liable in a fatal truck accident. First, there is the truck company. This is the entity that owns the truck and is responsible for its maintenance. If the accident was caused by a mechanical failure or error, the truck company may be held liable.

Next, there is the cargo company. This is the entity that was responsible for loading the truck’s cargo. If the cargo was improperly loaded or secured, leading to the accident, then the cargo company may be held liable.

Finally, there is the maintenance company. This is the entity responsible for repairing and maintaining the truck. If they did not properly repair or maintain the truck, leading to the accident, then they may be held liable.

The truck owner may also be held liable if they were aware of any issues with the truck and did not take action to fix them. In addition, if the driver of the truck was working for the owner at the time of the accident, then the owner may be vicariously liable for their actions.
