Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Fatal truck crashes take the lives of at least one person daily, adding up to more than 500 people each year. Although semi-trucks play a major role in our state’s economy, they can have devastating consequences if they are being operated by reckless and careless drivers.

Every day, we see serious truck crashes take place in Texas. Many of these accidents are caused by negligence. Some of the leading factors in truck crashes that we see in Texas include:

Fatigue: Drivers who are drowsy are one of the leading causes of truck accidents. Due to the fact that truckers are on the road for long periods of time, they often become exhausted and may fall asleep at the wheel.

Distractions: Distracted driving is another major factor in truck accidents. Truck drivers may be distracted by their cell phones, CB radios, or other electronic devices while driving.

Speeding: Speeding is a common cause of accidents for all vehicles, but it is especially dangerous for large trucks. Trucks take more distance and time to come to a complete stop the most of their vehicles. When they are speeding, this drastically increases the time and space that it takes for them to come to a complete halt. As a result, we see many serious accidents take place due to speeding trucks that are unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.
