Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Fatal truck crashes take hundreds of lives every year in the state of Texas. Unfortunately, many of these accidents are entirely preventable. We see innocent people die as a result of truck accidents daily that are caused by negligent and careless drivers.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the leading cause of fatal truck collisions is driver error. The most common type of driver error that leads to fatal truck collisions is speeding. Truck drivers are under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and they may feel like they have to speed in order to get their deliveries done on time. Speeding makes it harder for truck drivers to control their vehicles, and it increases the chances of a collision if another vehicle cuts them off or something unexpected happens on the road.

Mechanical failures are also a common cause of fatal truck collisions. Trucks are complex machines with many parts that can all fail at once or one after the other. A truck that has not been properly maintained is more likely to experience mechanical problems that could lead to a collision. Poorly maintained brakes are one of the most common mechanical problems that lead to fatal truck collisions.

Weather-related factors can also contribute to fatal truck collisions. If a truck driver is caught in a severe storm, they may have difficulty seeing the road ahead of them or controlling their vehicle in high winds. Roadway conditions can also be a factor in fatal truck collisions. Potholes, debris, and ice can all cause trucks to lose control and collide with other vehicles or objects on the road.
