About Attorney Gena Bunn

Gena Bunn, a sixth-generation East Texan, joined Goudarzi and Young in 2026.

An experienced appellate advocate, Gena has argued cases in the United States Supreme Court, the Fifth and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and numerous Texas intermediate appellate courts.

She began her legal career at the Office of the Texas Attorney General in Austin, where she represented the State of Texas in federal court appeals of Texas death penalty cases. She served as chief of the Capital Litigation Division and the Postconviction Litigation Division. In 2008, she moved to Longview to join the criminal defense firm Holmes & Moore. In 2017, Gena launched her own solo legal practice specializing in criminal appeals.

Gena applies her appellate advocacy skills to representing victims of catastrophic injury and wrongful death at Goudarzi and Young.
