San Antonio, TX – Man Killed in Rear-End Truck Wreck on I-35

San Antonio, TX (November 19, 2022) – A man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on Friday evening in the San Antonio area. The crash was reported at around 6:45 p.m. on November 18.

According to local law enforcement, a towing wrecker driver was reversing their vehicle and the 8700 block of interstate Highway 35 toward a broken-down vehicle on the right shoulder. An 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on the roadway. To avoid the collision, the driver of the 18-wheeler switched over into the left lane.

A red pickup truck that was in the right lane also began to slow down but stayed in the same lane. At the same time, a dark blue Ford Focus was traveling south in the left lane when it failed to slow down. As a result, the vehicle became involved in a collision with the trailer.

An adult male involved in the accident was fatally injured as a result of the cross. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The San Antonio Police Department is actively investigating the crash.

Our condolences are with the family of the victim who died in this accident.

Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Traffic accidents take place daily in the state of Texas that take the lives of those involved. Regrettably, an average of 11 people die as a result of vehicle collisions daily in our state. There are many cases where people lose their lives as a result of accidents involving commercial vehicles.

In most cases, fatal accidents are a result of negligence. People who fail to operate their vehicles in a responsible manner continue to cause harm to innocent people. Some of the leading factors in fatal collisions include:

  • Speeding: When drivers are going too fast, they may not be able to react in time to avoid an accident. They may also lose control of their vehicle more easily.
  • Drunk driving: Alcohol impairs a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. It can make them less coordinated and more likely to take risks.
  • Distracted driving: Drivers who are texting or talking on the phone may not be paying attention to the road ahead. This can make them more likely to get into an accident.
  • Fatigue: Drivers who are tired may have trouble staying awake at the wheel. They may also have slower reflexes and make mistakes that could lead to an accident.
