Fatal Train Accidents in Texas
Losing a loved one can be incredibly challenging to deal with. Unfortunately, hundreds of people die due to these tragic incidents every year in our state. When victims lose their lives as a result of fatal commercial vehicle accidents, surviving family members are able to take legal action. It is important to identify who is liable for the accident in order to recover compensation. Following the loss of a loved one, your family may be entitled to compensation for:
- Loss of companionship or consortium: This type of damage compensates the surviving spouse or family members for the loss of companionship or society that they have suffered as a result of the death.
- Loss of support and services: This type of damage compensates the surviving spouse or family members for any financial support or services that they have lost as a result of the death. This could include things like loss of income, childcare expenses, and more.
- Pain and suffering: This type of damage is intended to compensate the grieving family members for any physical or emotional pain and suffering that they have endured as a result of the death.
There are several parties who can be held liable for these and other damages. In a commercial vehicle accident, liable parties can be the driver of the vehicle, the owner of the vehicle, the commercial vehicle company, the maintenance company, or even the loading company. A knowledgeable wrongful death lawyer will be able to help your family investigate the accident, identify the liable parties, and take action against them.
