The Cleveland Police Department is investigating the accident.

We hope the two students injured due to this crash recover quickly.

Truck Accidents with Pedestrians

There are three main types of driver behavior that commonly lead to pedestrian accidents. These include failing to yield, speeding, and running red lights. Each of these behaviors increases the risk of a collision and can have devastating consequences for pedestrians.

Failing to yield is one of the most common causes of pedestrian accidents. When drivers fail to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians, they put them in danger of being hit by a car. Drivers should always yield to pedestrians when they are crossing the street, regardless of whether or not there is a crosswalk present.

Speeding is another major contributor to pedestrian accidents. When drivers exceed the posted speed limit, they reduce the amount of time they have to react to changes in traffic conditions. This can lead them to collide with pedestrians who may be crossing the street or walking along the side of the road. Speed limits are in place for a reason, and drivers need to obey them in order to keep everyone on the road safe.

Running red lights is also a serious problem that can result in pedestrian accidents. Drivers who run red lights often do so because they are in a hurry and trying to save time. However, this risks the lives of pedestrians who may be crossing the intersection legally at a green light. Running red lights is not only dangerous, but it is also illegal. Drivers who choose to run red lights need to be aware that they could be cited by law enforcement and face severe penalties as a result.

As you can imagine, when drivers behind the wheel of commercial vehicles engage in these reckless actions, they are likely to cause severe injuries to pedestrians.
