Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

Far too often, innocent people lose their lives as a result of fatal truck accidents. Here in Texas, hundreds of people die each year as a result of these accidents. In many instances, fatal truck crashes are entirely preventable. Innocent people continue to lose their lives each year as a result of drivers who are negligent. One of the most common types of fatal truck accidents that we see here in Texas involves rear-end impact.

There are many factors that can contribute to a rear-end truck accident, but some are more common than others. Here are the leading causes of fatal rear-end truck accidents in Texas:

  • Distracted driving: This is one of the most common causes of all types of accidents, and it’s especially dangerous when driving a large truck. Truckers may be distracted by their passengers, their CB radio, or even eating while behind the wheel.
  • Fatigue: Driving for long hours can be fatiguing, and this is especially true for truckers who are on the road for days or weeks at a time. Losing focus for even a few seconds can result in a devastating rear-end collision.
  • Poor vehicle maintenance: Trucks that aren’t properly maintained are more likely to have mechanical failures that can lead to an accident. Things like bald tires, broken headlights, and faulty brakes can all contribute to a rear-end collision.
