We hope the injured victims are able to recover quickly.

First, when traffic is moving slowly, trucks have more time to interact with other vehicles. This increases the chances that something will go wrong – for example, a truck might sideswipe a car as it tries to change lanes.
Second, stop-and-go traffic gives trucks more opportunities to rear-end other vehicles. This type of crash is especially common on highways, where trucks are often following each other closely.
