Fatal Truck Accidents in Texas

In 2021, 4,480 people lost their lives as a result of vehicle accidents in Texas. Hundreds of these people were involved in accidents involving semi-trucks. Trucks and large commercial vehicles increase the severity of injuries that victims involved in accidents will suffer. This is due to the size and weight of these massive vehicles.

If you lose a loved one as a result of a truck accident, you may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the responsible party. The first thing you’ll have to do is determine who is at fault for the accident. If the truck driver was at fault, you may be able to file a claim against the trucking company.

If the truck driver was not at fault, you may still be able to file a claim against the trucking company if they were negligent in hiring or training the driver. You will need to show that the company knew or should have known that the driver was not fit to operate a commercial vehicle.

In some cases, even if neither the truck driver nor the trucking company is at fault, you may still be able to recover damages from another party. For example, if defective brakes caused the accident, you could file a claim against the manufacturer of the brakes.

If you have lost a loved one in a truck accident, it is important to speak with a Dallas wrongful death attorney who can help you understand your legal options and who can fight for maximum compensation on your behalf.
