Truck Accidents in Texas

Each year, hundreds of people are killed, and thousands more are left with serious injuries as a result of truck crashes that take place in the state of Texas. Many people involved in these accidents are left with severe spinal cord injuries, broken bones, and other injuries that require medical care. There are several types of truck accidents that we see take place in our state every day. Some of the most common types of crashes reported include override crashes, jackknife accidents, T-bone accidents, and rear-end collisions.

Underride crashes occur when passenger vehicles strike trucks and become wedged underneath the trailer. This type of truck accident is often fatal for the occupants of the smaller vehicle.

Jackknife accidents happen when the trailer of the semi-truck swings out from behind the cab to create a 90-degree angle. Jackknife crashes often occur when trucks are braking too hard or if the trailer is improperly loaded. Jackknife crashes can be very dangerous, especially if another vehicle collides with the jackknifed truck.

T-bones, commonly referred to as side-impact collisions, generally take place when the front of one automobile crashes into the side of a second vehicle. These types of accidents are often caused by drivers who run red lights or fail to yield at intersections. T-bone crashes can be particularly dangerous for passengers in the struck vehicle because they have little protection from the impact.

Rear-end collisions occur when one vehicle runs into the back of another vehicle. These types of accidents are often caused by distracted driving or tailgating. Rear-end collisions can be less serious than other types of truck accidents, but they can still cause significant damage and injuries to those involved.
